Jyoti Bashyal

Jyoti Bashyal is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at the University of New Mexico, USA. Her research focuses on understanding the structure-function relationships in glucose transporters (GLUTs) and their implications for diseases such as cancer, diabetes, and metabolic syndromes. By investigating how these proteins work at the molecular level, Jyoti aims to contribute to drug discovery efforts targeting these critical transporters. She is particularly interested in exploring how high-throughput protein expression and crystallization techniques can be applied to better understand carbohydrate-related proteins and their therapeutic potential. Blending her expertise in chemistry, biology, and computational tools, Jyoti is driven by a passion for solving complex scientific challenges. Outside the lab, she is a dedicated science communicator who loves making complex concepts approachable and engaging. Through writing and sharing her knowledge, she hopes to inspire curiosity and excitement about science. Jyoti’s goal is to connect groundbreaking discoveries with real-world impact, encouraging others to see the power and beauty of science in action.

Physical and Chemical Changes: Types, Examples, 8 Differences

Physical and Chemical Changes

The Law of conservation of matter states that matter cannot be created or destroyed; only its form can change. It can undergo either a physical and chemical changes. Composition distinguishes a physical reaction from a chemical reaction. Matter’s properties, such … Read more

Separation of Mixtures and Solutions: Important Techniques

May 19, 2023 by Jyoti Bashyal
Separation of Mixtures

Separation of mixtures is applicable in order to either separate the unnecessary components from a mixture or separate the required components from a mixture. The physical blending of two unlike or related compounds in liquids, colloids, or suspensions produces a … Read more

Ionic Solids: Structure, Formation, Properties

May 18, 2023 by Jyoti Bashyal
Structure of Ionic Solids

Ionic solids are a form of crystalline solid. Ionic bonds are formed between positive and negative ions because of their electrostatic attraction to one another. These bonds are what keep the cations and anions that are found in ionic solids … Read more

Boyle’s Law: Statement, Formula, Amazing Applications

August 18, 2023May 17, 2023 by Jyoti Bashyal
Boyle's Law

Boyle’s Law provides the relationship between pressure and volume of gas at a constant temperature. In 1662, an English scientist named Robert Boyle proposed this law, which was also named after him: Boyle’s Law. What is Boyle’s Law? Boyle’s law … Read more

Ionization Energy: Types, Factors, Calculation, Trends Exceptions

May 16, 2023 by Jyoti Bashyal
Ionization Energy

It is the energy required to strip one or more electrons from a neutral atom to create a positively charged ion, which alters the atom’s chemical behavior. The ionization energy (I.E.) is necessary to remove one or more electrons from … Read more

Beer-Lambert Law: Statement, Derivation, Applications, Limitations

May 15, 2023 by Jyoti Bashyal
Beer-Lambert Law

Beer’s Law is also known as the Lambert-Beer Law, Beer-Lambert Law, and Beer-Lambert-Bouguer Law. The Beer-Lambert Law can be used to calculate the concentration of a sample and is frequently used in absorption and transmission tests on samples. Light travels … Read more

May 19, 2023May 14, 2023 by Jyoti Bashyal
Palladium (Pd) Element

Palladium is a metallic element with the atomic number 46 and is represented by the symbol ‘Pd’ in the periodic table. It is classified as a transition metal and belongs to the d-block of group 10 of the periodic table. It is … Read more

Reaction Quotient (Q): Equation, Calculation, Types, Units

May 12, 2023 by Jyoti Bashyal
Reaction Quotient

The relative amounts of reactants and products present during a reaction at a specific time are determined by the reaction quotient (Q). The reaction quotient assists in determining which direction a reaction is likely to go given the pressures or … Read more

Energy Level, Shell, Subshell: Atomic Model

May 12, 2023 by Jyoti Bashyal
Energy Level and Atomic Model

An atom’s energy level is the amount of energy contained in its orbitals. An atom is typically made up of electrons that revolve in set orbits around its nucleus. They are not permitted to freely move and modify their random … Read more
